For tickets purchased by 8/7/22, the price of admittance is $30 for alumni and $40 for the general public. After 8/8/22, the price increases by $10 per ticket. The art of cutting and styling textured hair has become an increasingly important skill for cosmetology professionals. More than half of the world’s population has been identified as having some form of textured hair. Because texture is such a huge part of a cosmetologist’s potential client base, it is critical for cosmetology professionals to be educated in the art of styling and cutting textured hair. The Art of Textured Hairstyling event offers an educational opportunity for cosmetology professionals. Event attendees will learn how to identify a client’s texture type and curl patterns, and how to treat, cut, color and style each of the different types of textures. Attendees will learn and practice cutting rounded layers, which create a beautiful balanced cut whether the client is wearing their curls or going straight for the day, and natural styling techniques which style hair in a way that enhances the client’s natural curl. Instruction will include Bantu knots, flat twists and the use of the correct products, in order to help clients feel and look their best.

The Art of Textured Hairstyling event features Intellitec Cosmetologist program instructors Tricia Gallegos and Samantha Jacinthe. Tricia, known as Ms. G to her students, has been in the Cosmetology industry for over 20 years. Prior to becoming an instructor, Tricia owned and operated her own salon. Tricia believes in continuing education, and has obtained several professional certifications in haircutting, coloring techniques, keratin smoothing, DevaCurl Expert Curl Care, and L’Oreal Professionnel Curl Keys. Samantha began her cosmetology journey as an IntelliTec College student, graduating with one of the first IntelliTec Cosmetologist program cohorts. After graduation, Samantha worked with JC Penney Salon and AnewU, before opening her own studio, Beauty & Beyond. Samantha became an ambassador and educator for Color.Me by Kevin Murphy, and gained professional certifications in DevaCurl, DreamCatcher’s extensions, and Brazilian Blowouts. IntelliTec College Grand Junction is fortunate to have both Tricia and Samantha as instructors, who each offer extensive experience in the realm of textured hairstyling.

The Art of Textured Hairstyling event is sponsored by IntelliTec College’s Cosmetologist program. The Cosmetologist program at IntelliTec College is designed to prepare students for successful long-term careers in the beauty industry. Students receive advanced technical skills training for hair coloring applications, cutting techniques, and styling methods, as well as professional training in facial and skin care treatment, nail services and make-up techniques. Students are also instructed in how to provide exemplary customer service.
